We extend a warm welcome to the City and County of Bristol Indoor Bowls Club positioned within its own grounds in an area of parkland on the outskirts of Bristol in South Liberty Lane, Ashton Vale. Our facilities include nine bowls rinks of international standard, spacious changing rooms, lounge and bar area, catering facilities, function room, a bowls shop and ample parking. The aim of the game is to deliver a biased bowl which travels in an arc towards the jack. The winner is the person or team that gains most points or shots by having bowls resting closest to the jack.
There are different bowling games such as Fours, Triples, Australian Pairs and many, many more.For those interested in bowling
Our membership is over 800 aged from 7 to over 90 years of age. We provide a full variety of bowling opportunities suitable for complete beginners up to those with international bowling expertise. From September to April we are open 7 days a week from 10am until late with reduced opening hours during the summer.New to Bowling
You may see members of the club out and about at Bristol events promoting the sport of bowls. For those who are interested in taking up the sport there are open days. However we are pleased to welcome anyone at any time who wants to try the sport. There is free friendly coaching for beginners with all equipment provided at no charge, you just pay £3.50 for two hours use of the rink. Further coaching is available, also free of charge, for those who wish to improve their skillsFor experienced bowlers
There are opportunities to ‘turn up and play’, join numerous leagues and play in matches in addition to the fun days, coaching and marking courses which are organised at intervals during the year. For those with a more competitive spirit there are opportunities to enter the annual club competitions, county leagues and competitions as well as the national competitions.
For the Disabled and Visually Handicapped
Our stadium and car parking arrangements are very user friendly for those who suffer from disability. We supply specially adapted wheel chairs for use on the green and encourage all disabled bowlers to be fully invoved in club life. Our visually impaired members enjoy using our rinks and facilities on a regular basis.
Juniors, aged up to 17 years
The bowls club has a strong junior section with skills activities and coaching taking place on Saturday mornings. Equipment is provided free of charge. When the children/students have achieved a level of competence they are encouraged to take part in tournaments, adult/junior and club leagues, the National School of Excellence, county and national competitions.Bowls for Schools
The club welcomes working with schools and introducing a sport that is fully inclusive to all pupils. Bowls can be competitive and yet quiet and relaxing after a day’s study at school.Corporate Days
Bristol Indoor Bowls Club offers corporate packages of ½ day or whole day duration involving coaching and bowls sessions, alongside team building and training. Our catering services offer a variety of buffets and menus to accompany your corporate day. Charges vary according to your requirements.Function Room
Our function room, fully equipped with OHP and screen, is available for hire for a variety of family occasions including weddings, other family celebrations and corporate events in line with the club’s Terms and Conditions. Our catering services are available for private functions whilst club members enjoy preferential rates for use of our facilities. With the club’s location close to Bristol South Crematorium our venue is a convenient for wakes for which there is no charge.
