A ‘magic’ horn call summons the spirits to start Weber’s overture ‘Oberon’, and the Romantic signature is developed in Richard Strauss’s heroic 1st Horn Concerto, played by Tim Thorpe, Conductor Catherine Larsen-Maguire draws her debut with BHCO at St George’s to a close with Brahms’s towering 1st Symphony. 28th February. Sneak preview of The Bristol Whales sculpture unveiled
Design company Codsteaks has unveiled a 3D model of The Bristol Whales, a temporary art installation that will be created on Bristol’s Harbourside in July as part of our European Green Capital year. The sculpture will show two whales swimming together through Millennium Square, with the tail of one emerging from the ocean, and the head and blowhole of the other. Details.
  
The Life and Times of Fanny Hill
Based on John Cleland’s (in)famous novel, which was published in 1748 but banned from sale soon afterwards, this adaptation by April de Angelis charts Fanny Hill’s fall into prostitution and rise to notoriety. The Life and Times of Fanny Hill is a darkly comic exploration of fulfilment and pleasure, offering a witty, irreverent perspective on the reality behind Fanny Hill’s story. Runs until 7th March. Bristol Old Vic.
 
March Of The Mods - Bristol
2015 sees Bristol hosting its first event with lots of bands Bands local to the South West area. Supporting the bands are a variety of local djs playing a large variety of Mod music, covering mod, indie, Ska, Northern Soul, 2Tone and Motown genres. Although it is titled March of the Mods, it isn’t purely just for Mods or scooterists, absolutely everyone is welcome. In aid of Teenage Cancer Trust 28th February. The Exchange, Bristol
