The Tobacco Factory Theatre is a dynamic, innovative and popular studio theatre located at the heart of one of the fastest growing areas in Bristol. It is a hub of creation, development and learning and produces and presents a diverse and exciting programme of theatre and other performing arts.
The end of 2009 heralded two big physical changes in the theatre. The first was September’s opening of our second space, The Brewery. This new theatre, seating just 90, has proved a hit with both up-and-coming and more established companies; the auditorium works fantastically for shows that are small in scale, but not in ambition. The other physical change
was the installation of ventilation in the theatre, which was turned on in October. The theatre could be far too hot and uncomfortable before this; it is transformed now and I’m sure you will notice a huge difference next time you come. Finally, over the last ten years as one of the most significant touring venues in the region we have consistently shown dynamic, thrilling and accomplished theatre. We have also found ways to show work in its early days; work that is unfinished, but might become great.
