18 June 2009: A North Somerset health and fitness club has been voted the best in the UK.

Chosen ahead of hundreds of other health clubs from across the country, theclub at Cadbury House Health Club & Spa in Congresbury received the accolade at the Fitness Industry Association’s (FIA) annual Flame Awards in Bolton.

Recognised for its ‘outstanding achievement and performance’, theclub received the ‘Spirit of Flame’ award which is a special category that cannot be entered or awarded by application.

Instead judges specifically select a short list of clubs that have shown exceptional performance with the winner being announced at the glittering black tie ceremony that’s attended by the leading suppliers, club owners and managers from across the health and fitness sector.

Jason Eaton, manager at theclub said: “We are absolutely thrilled to get this award. To receive the highest accolade possible from those who shape and run the health and fitness industry is a real achievement.

“All we knew was that we had been shortlisted so to hear theclub’s name be read out as the winner was a brilliant moment.

“Our members can now proudly say they belong to the country’s best health and fitness club. We’ll now strive to maintain the high standards our members come to expect and thoroughly deserve.”

“There’s only so much you can do with a building and this award is testament to the team’s continual hard work and dedication to create a club that’s friendly, fun and a great place to be.”
