Mizz Chic - Beauty Salon
Mizz Chic which opened in June this year, is very chic and strictly for girls as it is decorated throughout in hot pink and black with leopard skin covered chairs for the added ‘wow’ factor. Actually the strictly for girls isn’t quite true as I saw from their brochure listed under waxing ‘men’s chest from £10.00’ I’m sure Sean Connery in his prime would definitely have been a £75.00 worth! The salon offers a large range of treatments, Fantasy spray tan, hot stone massage, spa therapy body wrap, manicures, pedicures, facials and even hopi ear candles which is a procedure that can help relieve earache and sinusitis.
Having had a busy and stressful week I decided to begin my Saturday with a deluxe facial which also includes a relaxing neck and shoulder massage. The treatment room is designed to be a calming haven of peace, low-lit with tea lights, scented with fragrant lavender and in the background a mixture of gentle piano music interspersed with birdsong plays quietly. I was wrapped in a nice fluffy pink towel and laid on a couch which, as an added comforting touch has an electric blanket underneath to keep you warm. This is a great idea as all massage creams can be cold and you can’t relax properly if you are left shivering; my least fond memory of a spa massage was one carried out in a sterile white room on a cold day and I felt like the last piece of haddock laid out on a fishmonger’s slab.
However, this time I was suitably cosy as first of all my face and neck were thoroughly cleansed (Mizz Chic use the Dermalogica range of products) massaging away all the impurities and pollution of city life, followed by exfoliation and a hydrating face mask. After the face mask was deemed to have done its job it was smoothly removed and a steaming hot towel was pressed to my face. A moisturiser completed the facial; the massage part was lovely and I almost fell asleep. Although directly after the facial I looked a bit pale, around an hour later I discovered I had developed a nice rosy glow, someone commented on how well I looked and my skin felt as soft as a rose petal.
Mizz Chic is the ideal place for a make-over for a special occasion or just when you feel your confidence needs a boost. Christmas is coming – they had a delightful tree made entirely of white feathers on the reception desk, how unusual is that?- and I am hoping somebody will remember to put a Mizz Chic gift voucher in my stocking. If they do I shall try a hot stone massage which is billed as ‘truly heaven’ and I’m sure it is.
