"we feel that we should send this email to just let you know what a great week we had in celebrating 50 years of community house. it was great to see some old faces from many years ago unfortunately a lot of members are no longer with us. but not forgotten. as we were fortunate to see them again through videos. photos. and newspaper clippings.its obvious that’s what community spirit is all about with the amount of people that turned up for the week of nostalgia.and a special thanks to Ron Barry and his wife for all the hard work. and his daughters Jane and Marie also not forgetting all the staff that worked very hard through out the week. also the members that brought in old photos and other memorabilia. and members that helped barb with the buffet for Saturday night to make this a very successful event. so keep up the good work . and once again many thanks"



It all started with a wooden hut and from 1959 the centre has not stopped improving the facilities.

The first major extension was the skittle alley and the outside of the then wooden structure was improved by bricking up with bricks and mortar

We then started work on the interior of the building giving the centre a complete re-vamp. Improvements have been carried out throughout the last 50 years.

Unfortunately, due to the decline of new members and the smoking ban, membership has dropped and not so many people now visit the centre.

With the rising costs of everyday running we are finding it very difficult to make ends meet. We need an influx of new members and support from both local people and businesses.

The community Centre will carry on regardless.

I would like to thank our past & present members for their continuing support.
